n8n

Send WhatsApp messages from n8n

n8n has its own WhatsApp node, but it needs a Meta developer account, a Meta app and an access token. If your number already runs on Tobachat, one HTTP Request node does the job.

Setup

The HTTP Request node in 4 steps

1

Method and URL

Pick POST and enter https://api.tobachat.nl/v1/send-template.

2

Key

Under Authentication pick Generic Credential Type, then Header Auth, with X-API-Key as the name and your key as the value.

3

Body

Turn on Send Body, pick JSON and Using JSON, and set the field to Expression, so n8n fills in values from the previous step.

4

No duplicates

Under Send Headers, set Idempotency-Key to {{ $execution.id }}-{{ $itemIndex }}. A retry from n8n then won't go out twice.

Examples

Workflows that send an alert

  • A site that goes down

A Schedule Trigger checks your site every few minutes. When it doesn't answer, whoever is on call gets a message.

  • A monitoring tool

If your uptime or server monitoring sends a webhook, n8n turns it into a WhatsApp alert.

  • Failing payments

When your store or payment provider reports a run of failed payments, your team hears about it at once.

  • A stock feed gone quiet

No new feed for a few hours, and n8n sends an alert.

With Tobachat

Alerts and replies in one place

Your own business number

The message comes from your number with your business name on top, over the official WhatsApp Business Platform.

Only to people who asked

Alerts go to people who signed up. A number that opted out gets nothing, even if n8n tries.

Every alert in your inbox

You see every alert in your shared inbox, and your team picks up any reply right there.

More than alerts

The same number answers customer questions too, handled by your team or the AI agent.

Pricing

What it costs

Alerts are part of every plan. Start free, then €29, €99 or €199 a month, cancel any month. Meta charges per message on top, depending on the recipient's country.

Questions
